One middle-aged man's latest desperate attempt to shed the pounds and return to fitness
Day Four

WEIGHT : 239 pounds (5 pounds lost)
EXERCISE : None
ALCOHOL : 4 cans lager

Woo! Yay! I seem to have lost a further two pounds. Won't get too excited, early days. Terrible getting to sleep again last night. My wife is suffering from some sinus complaint. It's like sleeping (or attempting to sleep) next to Thomas the Tank Engine. Can't remember what time I finally dropped off but 2am seems a likely estimate, and I was awake at five, and then again at six twenty when I was called-out. I had to bomb into work still half asleep, downing a can of Red Bull to prevent my eyelids sealing. The usual things cycled my mind, mainly losing my best friend in November last year and how hurtful it is. I make immense emotional attachments to the people I really love and hence don't find loss easy to accept. On a more mundane level I'm organising cubs next week so am working on a task for them to complete. As I was blood-donating today I didn't really diet, although I didn't go over-the-top either. A body needs the calories to build up the lost blood again. Also had to have the beer to steady my nerves for England's match v Portugal. They lost.
