One middle-aged man's latest desperate attempt to shed the pounds and return to fitness

WEIGHT : 238 pounds [six pounds lost]
Oh yes, the joys of the lo-carb diet - you lose virtually a pound a day, for the first week anyway! If all goes to schedule I'll lose three pounds next week, and then nothing the week after before it begins to trickle off at around two pounds a week, as is healthy. This ISN'T the Atkins Diet, I stress. I don't believe all that kitosis/body chemistry stuff he came out with (my own, individual opinion of course) - the case is, on a lo-carb diet you eat a lot of protein and protein is a natural appetite-suppressor, hence, you eat less because you're not so hungry all the time. The diet is good so far, although I miss my BLTs, and Red Bull, and Lucazade. Only for a couple of months - I want to get down to 224 pounds by then, then have a bit of fun whilst maintaining my weight around that mark, then in the new year have another go and eventually get down to below 200 pounds. I think I'm more motivated in the knowledge this diet isn't going to be my total way of life for the new six months to a year! I certainly have kicked the two biggest failings of my life - lack of exercise and excesses of beer, so i must be able to maintain a level weight rather than let it creep on again. I hope! The rest of my life trundles along pretty well at the moment - soccer is becoming pretty much the main factor in my life - which I'm quite happy about, plus I'm now a qualified coach!
